Aster
The Aster icon

Your photos stay in the Finder.
Aster develops them.

A photo library and RAW editor for the Mac, for photographers who want their pictures in ordinary folders and their edits beside them. Import, sort, develop, retouch locally, title and find — without an account, without a cloud, without a subscription.

Coming soon to the Mac App Store

One purchase. No account, no subscription.

Your folders, not a catalogue

Aster reads the folders you already have, organised the way you like. Your edits, ratings, titles and keywords are written to XMP sidecar files next to each photo, readable by other software. Originals are never modified. Move a folder in the Finder and nothing is lost.

A render that does not move

Each photo keeps the RAW rendering it was edited with. When Aster's processing improves, new photos benefit, and the ones you have finished look exactly as you left them.

Local retouching, without a round trip

Masks by brush and shape, luminance and colour ranges, automatic masks for people, skin, subject and sky, and a Healing tool for dust and distractions. Everything is computed on your Mac.

For whom

Photographers who shoot RAW and want to keep control of their files: travel and landscape, reportage, portrait, or simply a well-kept family archive. If you have ever had to export your photos out of a catalogue to get them back, Aster is meant for you.
